Flower vase / Iwao
Flower vase / Iwao
Iwao means a large craggy rock. The appearance of these large rocks being exposed to rain and wind and having their surfaces scratched or chipped seems to to indicate the harshness of the natural world. The vase "Iwao" conveys the strength of a small flower that lives strong and firmly rooted in such a rock.
The black color of the vase is created using a method called "iron glaze" (iron black glaze). This is a method that causes a coloring reaction with the iron oxide contained in the glaze, and is one of the typical glazing methods for Seto ware. The rough texture of the surface and the calm, quiet black color give it a somewhat "Iwao" atmosphere.

Vase that enhances the daintiness of flowers
The "Iwao" and "Rin" vases feature scenes reminiscent of harsh natural environments, such as large, craggy rocks and midwinter snowfall.
The distorted shapes and torn apertures are reminiscent of irregular external forces that have deformed it, telling a story of a harsh natural environment. The contrast with such a harsh view of the world accentuates the loveliness of the flowers.
Since it is the size of a single flower vase, it can be placed in small spaces such as shelves, tables, bay windows, etc., and is also recommended for small rooms. Available in two colors: black and ivory. The color is not too strong and can be matched with a variety of flowers.
