Iwao is a large, rugged rock.
The appearance of these large rocks being exposed to the elements and having their surfaces scratched or chipped seems to be a testament to the harshness of the natural world. The vase "Iwao" conveys the strength of a small flower that lives strong and firmly rooted in such a rock.

The black color of the vase is created using a method called "iron glaze" (iron black glaze). This is a method that causes a coloring reaction with the iron oxide contained in the glaze, and is one of the typical glazing methods for Seto ware. The rough texture of the surface and the calm, quiet black color give it a somewhat "Iwao" atmosphere.
